Again, I hope Pat knows I'm not trying to take away from their effort and what they did, I'm just saying I failed our football team today. I think the wind on a couple occasions was a little bit of an issue, ball placement was an issue, we had to fight through tight coverage a couple times that was an issue, and we catch the ball but don't secure it all the way to the ground on what would be a big play.
It wasn't one thing or one position, I think it was just a combination of everything. There are so many hats in there it forces you into the approach we had today. I felt like going into the game if we could find a way to get four to five yards running the ball to force them to continue to play that way, then we had chances for big plays in the passing game.
There were some times where he wasn't as accurate or as disciplined in what we're asking him to do. I do think he's made some progress, and there were times where we're getting the expected outcome or delivery of the ball, and then there's times that we're not. Ad Blocker Detected. They continue to amaze all of us in this building who see them every day with their resilient nature and their care for each other. It's a lot of fun to watch. Inspiring, quite honestly, to all the coaches and everybody around them.
They're a great group of kids. I love Keshawn King , I'm unrelenting in my desire to have him do things the right way. He knows that, and that's the beautiful thing about him. There's not a more pleasurable person on our team to be around than Keshawn when he is right. We've seen a lot of that lately, and that's pretty fun to be around.
That was our plan, just running the ball right down the middle. Then we went into stretch more in the second half. That was our game plan, though. Just go out there and run the ball and the big plays will come. That first touchdown pass to Tayvion [Robinson] , when you establish the run, the deep ball will come, and that's what happened. They weren't really running the ball, we knew that. So, we just had to find a way to sack the quarterback.
If we couldn't complete the sack, we at least tried to get him out of his spot, move him a little bit, which we did a couple of times. We were in two-man coverage, so I just had the zone and just made sure nobody crossed my face. Then I just made a play, man. That's all I can really say. That's tough to do. It's been in the playbook for a while, we've just been waiting for the right time to call it and that was tonight. I mean, every time he touched the ball it was explosive.
When you can get explosive plays, it builds a lot of momentum and opens a lot of things up. He did a great job tonight.
