Well this ended on a much more upbeat note then the last Microsoft peripheral review I wrote. The SideWinder X5 is mostly able to repent the sins of its father. It has Microsofts pared-down SideWinder X5 Mouse is supposed to offer PC gamers a lower-cost version of its award-winning higher-end model.
Instead, it comes across as flimsy and overly stripped down. Other mice deliver better control for the same price The packing of the Microsoft Sidewinder X5 goes beyond the traditional or regular packaging, certainly making it stand.
Its less of an eye-popping display and more of a novel design for cardboard. Like most Microsoft products, the packaging is very The SideWinder X5 Mouse is a decent gaming mouse. For very close to the same money you can get much more sensitive mice. However, the macro recording capability is nice and the mouse works very well.
On the sides of the mouse they have soft rubber for grib. But for the bottons its smooth plasic. If it was all rubber like the Razor mouses then it would be alot nicer. Overall Review: If this mouse ever breaks on me. Pros: First off, I'm comparing this to a Razer Mamba, a Mouse that costs more than twice of Sidewinder X5 so my expectations were pretty high. The mouse is wide, wider than most mice on the market. I can comfortably rest my entire hand on the mouse for a palm grim then shift my fingers back for a claw grip with ease.
The buttons are really sensitive; you can press in the middle of the mouse and still register mouse clicks, a great thing for claw users. The two side buttons are stacked upon each other, making them much easier to press with your thumb since you can rest your thumb right over both of them and wiggle it about to hit both buttons without the need to shift your thumb back and forth unlike most other mice.
In RTS games, I can micro a bit easier now due to how swift the mouse is as well as other game genres. This mouse can also go all the way up to Cons: When I first tried to game with the mouse, I thought it was awful and put it aside for a few days before trying it again. Took me days to fully adjust to the new size and feel of the mouse. Its drivers are integrated into your hardware settings and the only difference is a tab where you can change your DPI and side button options.
You cannot set your own DPI, instead there are fixed numbers. The scroll wheel is a bit flat and the material used doesn't offer the best grip. Not really a major con though. Overall Review: There's also little red LED's on the back of the mouse that look nice while gaming in the dark. The mouse looks extremely sleek and similar to a sports car. I personally prefer this mouse of the Razer Mamba, any day. Cons: Cheap feel, light weight and poor action of mouse This is a cheap imitation of the original sidewinder.
Overall Review: The G5 is a much better mouse - both feel, quality and action. Don't waste your money on this product. Overall Review: My hand is 7" long from my wrist crease to the end of my middle finger. My index finger is 3.
With my wrist resting on the table, my hand fits the mouse grooves perfectly. The mouse wheel is just within reach and the thumb buttons are just out of reach. I recommend this mouse if your hands are longer than mine.
I do not recommend this mouse if your hands are my size or smaller. Not if you intend to use the thumb buttons. I wish manufacturers would recommend a hand size for a particular mouse. That is something I will be sure to ask before I waste money on another gaming mouse. Pros: The two side buttons. This mouse made COD4 a dream to play. Unlike most mice, the upper and lower side buttons are much easier to use that the conventional locations seen in other mice.
The rubber scroll wheel is easier than the more price sidewinders metal wheels. Overall Review: This mouse is light, the way I like it, buttons are responsive and the feel is very good. I have wanted a mouse to use for FPS games and this one really fits the bill, and it is the two side buttons that made all the differnce. Of course, the dpi selection, slow to fast, add to the versatility of this mouse. There is another sidewinder mouse that offers weight admustmenhts and a metal scroll wheel, but I find the rubber wheel much more secure is overall use.
Unlike other SideWinders, you will not find macro features. As it is mentioned above, you can easily customize 3 different levels of DPI sensitivity. Its on-the-fly DPI switching mode is something you will fall in love with. It is kind of nerdy and weird.
There is not much to see in its software, it is simple and not fancy. This is something that makes it quite simple and easier for me to suggest this one to my peers and other people online. For a cheap price, this is something that would really add some value to your gaming experience.
In last I could only say that X5 cost much lower price than its competitors, therefore check out the upcoming link if you are curious on new best prices.
This mouse does not have any cool features like macro, profile storages, weight cartridges, however it has essential features that any gaming mouse need. Essentially, it has dedicated buttons for DPI switching, thumb buttons, and laser sensor. Check Microsoft SideWinder X5 prices on amazon. It has some of the same features as more expensive mice, and is not prone to the same quality issues that similarly priced mice are prone to.
